08 tháng 07. 2026

SCG, a leading industrial group in ASEAN, is enhancing its collaboration with ASEAN countries to strengthen industrial capabilities amid global transformation. Thammasak Sethaudom, President and CEO of SCG, highlighted the need for ASEAN industries to bolster resilience and regional cooperation to support sustainable long-term growth.

SCG regards ASEAN as a crucial growth engine alongside China, supported by strong fundamentals in population, trade connectivity, and investment flows. With a projected regional GDP growth of around 4.7%, ASEAN is poised to play a significant role in global industrial networks. Each ASEAN economy contributes unique strengths in manufacturing efficiency, innovation, talent, and policy support, creating potential for deeper integration. SCG also views China as a strategic partner, aiming to enhance industrial cooperation and build efficient, interconnected regional value chains.

SCG is implementing a phased strategy to boost long-term competitiveness. In the short term, it focuses on operational resilience through energy efficiency and supply chain stability. Medium-term plans (2026–2027) include expanding operational capabilities in ASEAN through robotics, AI, and digital transformation. Key initiatives involve ethane flexibility development at Long Son Petrochemicals and potential petrochemical cooperation in Thailand. Long-term goals from 2026 onwards involve driving sustainable growth through clean energy and carbon reduction under the Inclusive Green Growth framework.

SCG emphasises the role of robotics and AI in transforming industrial operations whilst maintaining human capability as central to value creation. The company positions itself as an "Organisation of Opportunities," focusing on continuous upskilling and enterprise-wide transformation. SCG concludes that future industrial competitiveness will be defined by collaboration and connectivity, with ASEAN and its partners, including China, having strong potential to build a resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem
