Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism participated in the fourth Beijing International Cultural and Tourism Consumption Expo to promote the country’s tourism potential and attract Chinese visitors. The three-day event concluded here yesterday.
The opening ceremony was led by Gao Zheng, China’s vice minister of culture and tourism, and Sima Hong, vice mayor of Beijing. It drew representatives from tourism institutions, private sector stakeholders, and nearly 200 journalists.
This year’s expo brought together 33 countries and regions across 637 exhibition booths. Organisers expected more than 100,000 visitors over the course of the event.
Following the opening ceremony, Chinese officials visited Cambodia’s exhibition booth, where the ministry showcased the country’s destinations, tourism products, and cultural heritage.
Cambodian tourism representatives also gave interviews to major Chinese and international media outlets, including CCTV, China Daily, Beijing Business Today, and Beijing News Radio. Discussions focused on Cambodia’s tourism development, visitor safety measures, and promotional activities.
Particular attention was given to Cambodia’s temporary visa exemption policy for Chinese tourists, scheduled to run from June 15 to October 15, 2026.
On the first day of the exhibition, visitors and media showed strong interest in Cambodia’s visa facilitation, safety initiatives, and government efforts to combat online scam-related crimes.
Cambodia’s participation is seen as an important opportunity to market the kingdom as a premier destination and enhance tourism cooperation with China.
