30 tháng 01. 2026

Cambodia’s trade with Japan recorded strong growth in 2025, rising by 17 percent compared to the previous year, according to the data released by the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) recently. Total bilateral trade reached approximately $2.53 billion, reflecting increased economic engagement between the two countries.

Exports from Cambodia to Japan grew by 12 percent, reaching $1.57 billion. Key export items included garments, footwear, travel goods, agricultural products, and electronic components, which continue to benefit from Japan’s stable demand and preferential trade arrangements. The growth highlights Cambodia’s expanding manufacturing capacity and its efforts to diversify export markets beyond traditional partners.

Imports from Japan rose more sharply, increasing by 27 percent to $956 million. Cambodia’s imports from Japan largely consisted of vehicles, machinery, electrical equipment, and industrial inputs, underscoring Japan’s role as a major supplier of high-quality technology and capital goods to support Cambodia’s industrial and infrastructure development.

Trade officials noted that the increase reflects deepening economic cooperation, supported by Japanese investment in Cambodia’s manufacturing, logistics, and energy sectors. Improved connectivity, supply chain recovery, and stronger private-sector partnerships also contributed to the rise in trade.

Japan remains one of Cambodia’s key trading partners and a major source of foreign direct investment, with both sides expressing optimism for continued trade growth in the coming years.
