Thailand's exports grow for 13th consecutive month

According to Poonpong, this sustained growth was largely driven by a last-minute scramble from international importers to secure goods before the US began implementing new tariffs.

Thailand's export turnover reported a year-on-year increase of 11% in July, marking the 13th consecutive month of growth.

Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the Ministry of Commerce's Trade Policy and Strategy Office, said that July’s exports were valued at 28.58 billion USD.

He confirmed that with imports valued at 28.26 billion USD, Thailand posted a trade surplus of 322.1 million USD.

According to Poonpong, this sustained growth was largely driven by a last-minute scramble from international importers to secure goods before the US began implementing new tariffs.

For the first seven months of 2025, Thailand's total exports expanded by 14.4% to 195.43 billion USD. This strong performance was supported by a rush to export goods before the full enforcement of new US tariffs.

Poonpong noted that confidence among Thai exporters was also boosted by the government's assurance that it will successfully negotiate a new tariff rate with the US and provide assistance to affected businesses.

The ministry expects export growth to moderate from August onwards but remains positive for the whole year./.
