The Italian Expo Cambodia 2024 kicked off on Thursday at Koh Pich Exhibition Hall, Phnom Penh, offering a floor to local customers and businessmen to seek an understanding of products and services from Italia and seek business partnerships with foreign firms.
The expo, scheduled to run for three days to March 9, was opened in the presence of Lim Lokpiseth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, Lim Heng, acting president of the Cambodia Commerce of Commerce, and Paola Guida, Italian Trade Commissioner in Bangkok with representatives of firms.
Products such as food, beverage, cosmetics, kitchen equipment, home decor, agricultural machinery, and technology devices from more than 100 stalls are on show.
The Italy-Cambodia Trade Fair 2024, held at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center, aims to find business partners and companies linking trade relations between Cambodia and Italy, said Lim Heng.
“The expo is important to businessmen in seeking to understand the business environment in Cambodia and seeking business partnership,” Heng told Khmer Times.
Heng said the event underscores the country’s push to enhance collaboration with foreign businessmen and investors to strengthen ties of trade and investment.
The expo also reflects the peace and stability and stable economic growth in Cambodia, a catalyst in building strong confidence in foreign investors and businessmen to step in for business and investment opportunities, Heng said.
The bilateral trade between Cambodia and Italy amounted to $362 million in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 18.6 percent, a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise showed.
Of which, the Kingdom exported $290 million worth of goods to Italy, a 12.7 percent decrease over that in 2022.
Cambodia predominantly exported consumer goods such as clothing and footwear to Italy, while importing Italian cosmetics, industrial textile machinery and automotive.
