Enabling Viet Nam’s shift to value-added sustainable textile growth

Integrated VIATT 2027 fair will connect sustainable materials, technologies and international textile markets.

Viet Nam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT) will return to the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City from 24–26 February 2027.

The event aims to support Viet Nam’s transition towards higher-value, more sustainable textile and garment production. Covering the entire supply chain, VIATT brings together raw materials, fabrics, garments and advanced manufacturing technologies within a single sourcing platform.

The 2026 edition attracted nearly 460 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions and recorded more than 17,000 visits from representatives of 54 markets. More than 350 business-matching meetings connected exhibitors with buyers from over 20 countries and regions.

The inaugural German Pavilion and Türkiye Zone expanded the event’s international presence, joining returning pavilions and zones representing China, Europe, India, Japan and Taiwan.

“Viet Nam’s textile industry is at a turning point,” said Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “As global competition intensifies and ESG requirements tighten, companies are shifting from volume-driven growth to value creation, technology adoption and supply chain transparency.

“As a comprehensive platform covering the full textile value chain, VIATT 2027 will support this transition in the region by connecting materials, production technologies and a range of international markets within one integrated environment.”

The exhibition will take place as Viet Nam’s textile and garment industry undergoes a period of structural adjustment. The sector generated more than US$22 billion in exports during the first half of 2026 and is targeting US$48 billion for the full year.

Industry leaders believe future growth will depend less on expanding capacity and more on improving productivity, increasing domestic sourcing, diversifying markets and accelerating digitalisation and greener production. With more than 60% of production inputs still imported, deeper regional integration and greater domestic value addition remain strategic priorities.

VIATT 2027 will be structured around three principal areas: Apparel Fabrics & Fashion, Home & Contract Textiles, and Technical Textiles & Technologies. The integrated format will connect yarn suppliers, fabric manufacturers, garment producers, machinery companies and technology providers.

Organisers say the structure will allow visitors to source higher-value materials, investigate new manufacturing capabilities and develop supply networks spanning regional and international markets.

Ezra Clarence, Marketing Manager at Indonesian company PT Kary Indomas Elok, said the combination of sectors helped the business reach prospective customers across several product categories.

“With our company showcasing products mainly for clothes, stuffed toys and home furniture, VIATT’s combination of three sectors is a perfect match for us,” he said. “As we look to expand exports to the US and Europe, we were able to meet highly targeted buyers here.”

The accompanying programme will address industry trends, sustainability regulations, digitalisation strategies and international trade developments. Sustainability will also remain central to the Econogy Hub and Econogy Check, which will showcase certified sustainable fibres, recycled materials, circular solutions and traceability systems.

These initiatives are intended to help textile manufacturers and exporters respond to increasingly stringent environmental, social, governance and compliance requirements in key international markets.

William Yip, Raw Materials Lead at Canadian outdoor retailer Mountain Equipment Company, said Viet Nam’s progression towards innovative materials and greater product differentiation made the fair particularly relevant to international brands.

“This fair is very important because for many brands, it is essential to look at the entire value chain,” he said. “From a traceability perspective, it is invaluable to have insight into your yarn supplier, the yarns used in your fabrics and ultimately your garment suppliers.”

VIATT is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency. The fair forms part of Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network, which encompasses more than 60 international textile trade fairs in 15 countries.
