The assurance was made on Wednesday as Mr Hun Manet received a courtesy call from a delegation led by Gao Yunlong at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
Gao’s visit holds significance in the sense that it wants to fructify and transform in real terms the projects agreed upon between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Hun Manet in mid-October this year.
Gao thanked the Premier for allowing him and the delegation to meet and inform about the strong cooperation between Cambodia and China which marked a historical relationship for both countries, worthy to be called a steel friendship.
He said that the two nations are committed to further promoting collaboration, especially on several projects in which the members of the delegation are keen on investing in
Cambodia including the industry, education and agriculture sectors.
During the October meeting, both leaders agreed to define 2024 as a year of people-to-people exchanges aimed at promoting tourism, trade, culture, education and sports.
The Chairman praised the development of the Kingdom in all aspects as he is optimistic that the country will be more prosperous, and cooperation between Cambodia and China will even become stronger.
Mr Hun Manet told Gao, “The RGC will continue to deepen cooperation between the two countries by strengthening and expanding communication mechanisms in all fields and at all levels.”
The Premier reminded that this year marked the 65th anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations in which the collaboration between the two nations has been steadily strengthened toward achieving a common destiny for mutual interest, moving closer together in a new direction.
He thanked the National Assembly (NA), the government and the people of China for their continued support to promote Cambodia’s socio-economic development activities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and reiterated the unity between the government leaders of the two countries, encouraging more Chinese tourists to visit the Kingdom.
Mr Hun Manet welcomes all the investment projects from Chinese companies, emphasising that the main goal of RGC is to raise the living standard of the Cambodians and sustain improvement for a prosperous future.
RGC has been focusing on ensuring the sustainability of a favourable environment for business and investment through the introduction of new policies, implementation mechanisms and legal frameworks aimed at facilitating and providing attractive incentives for Chinese investors who are keen on investing in Cambodia.
According to Cambodia’s General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), trade in goods between Cambodia and China topped $10 billion in the first 10 months of 2023, up 4.6 percent year-on-year.
Cambodia’s total international trade volume was valued at $38.66 billion during the first 10 months of this year, a drop of 3.1 per cent from $39.9 billion in the corresponding period last year.
