Cambodia, Vietnam firms sign MoU for proposed trade centre

28 tháng 10. 2026

Cambodian and Vietnamese businesses signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday to advance plans for a Cambodia-Vietnam Trade Centre in Phnom Penh, aiming to expand cross-border commerce and market access for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The agreement was executed in Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province between Mekong Tay Ninh Group and KC Market Group following negotiations facilitated by Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Vietnam Commercial Attaché Hor Dareth.

The proposed facility will serve as a venue for companies from both nations to display and sell goods, facilitating the entry of Vietnamese products into Cambodia while increasing Cambodian agricultural exports to Vietnam and broader international markets.

Delegates discussed measures to streamline import and export documentation, enforce compliance with quality standards and establish payment guarantee mechanisms to secure cross-border transactions.

To minimise commercial risk, the parties explored implementing letters of credit through Sacombank. Delegations also proposed a flexible commission-based fee structure tied to sales performance to reduce initial overheads for participating enterprises.

The signing establishes a framework for ongoing trade promotion and market integration between the two Asian neighbours, enabling small businesses to reach new consumer bases and build long-term supply chain partnerships.
