Economic cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand to be further promoted

The 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Thailand in 2026 represents an important milestone and an opportunity for the deeper development of the five-decade partnership, while laying a stronger foundation for the economic cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi, in collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Viet Nam (ThaiCham), on September 23 organized the seminar “50 Years of Thailand–Viet Nam Friendship: Connecting Supply Chains, Shaping the Shared Future,” marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The seminar aimed to promote the exchange of perspectives and further strengthen economic, trade, investment, and supply chain cooperation between the two countries, while exploring new opportunities for the business sector and enhancing the economic potentials of Viet Nam and Thailand within the ASEAN region.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Finance of Viet Nam, shared information on Viet Nam’s investment promotion policies and measures for Thai investors, as well as approaches to strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

“Thai enterprises have built strong capabilities in many sectors that closely align with Viet Nam’s development priorities, including food processing, chemicals and materials, energy, retail, logistics infrastructure, and the circular economy. At the same time, Viet Nam can serve as an important production base and a key link in regional supply chains for Thai corporations, not only meeting domestic demand but also facilitating access to international markets through Viet Nam’s extensive network of free trade agreements,” Mr. Tuan emphasized.

H.E. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Viet Nam, emphasized the importance of promoting trade and investment between Thailand and Viet Nam.

The ambassador  also shared perspectives on opportunities and challenges facing Thai businesses amid significant changes in the regional trade and supply chain landscape, while reaffirming the Royal Thai Embassy’s readiness to support and facilitate Thai businesses operating in Viet Nam. 

The seminar served as another important platform through which government agencies, businesses, and experts from both countries can be connected, thus enabling the exchange of practical information to support business decision-making and further cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chains. It also reaffirmed a shared vision that Viet Nam and Thailand are, more than neighboring countries, trusted strategic partners, working together to shape a shared future. This reflects the positive direction of bilateral relations and the commitment of both countries to move forward together and create new opportunities for the future.
