17 tháng 08. 2026

Cambodia has joined a series of ASEAN economic consultations aimed at advancing regional trade integration and strengthening economic ties with major trading partners, as ASEAN prepares for its economic ministers’ meetings in September.

Director-General of the General Directorate of International Trade of Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and SEOM Lead for Cambodia Long Kemvichet led the Cambodian delegation to six ASEAN Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM) consultations with dialogue partners from Aug. 9–10 in Manila, the Philippines.

According to the MoC’s statement yesterday, the meetings covered the 41st SEOM-India Consultation, 7th SEOM-UK Consultation, 45th SEOM-CER Consultation, 43rd ASEAN Plus Three Consultation, 15th SEOM-EAS Consultation and 18th SEOM-Russia Consultation.

Held under the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN chairmanship, the consultations reviewed progress on key economic integration agendas, including the implementation of existing ASEAN free trade agreements with partner countries and regional groupings.

Officials also discussed the implementation of existing economic work programmes, the development of new initiatives and preparations for Priority Economic Deliverables to be considered at the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ consultations with dialogue partners in September.

For Cambodia, the discussions are significant as ASEAN’s trade and economic arrangements help shape the region’s market-access framework and opportunities for businesses operating across regional supply chains.
