The Department of Councils of State on Tuesday (July 28) welcomed a delegation from the Futuru Lider Ba Asean (FLBA) Cohort 3 programme from Timor-Leste, comprising 11 participants.
The delegation took part in a dialogue session with Legislative Council (LegCo) members Safiah Sheikh Abdul Salam, Chong Chin Yee and Rosmawatty Abdul Mumin.
The discussions focused on women’s leadership and inclusive development in Brunei Darussalam, while also providing a platform for the exchange of perspectives and experiences between the participants and the LegCo.
The visit aimed to provide participants with an overview of the LegCo’s roles and functions, including its parliamentary proceedings and involvement in regional and international parliamentary cooperation and diplomacy.
The programme also offered participants the opportunity to exchange views on parliamentary practices and Brunei’s legislative system.
The visit underscored the importance of cooperation among parliamentary institutions in strengthening mutual understanding, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience, and promoting the sharing of best practices to support the development of legislative institutions across the Asean region.
