As Asean grows richer, CIMB seeks to tap wealth moving across generations

22 tháng 07. 2026

As Asean’s affluent population expands, wealth is increasingly moving across multiple generations with differing priorities, risk appetites and financial goals.

For the first time, there are now four distinct generations — baby boomers, Gen X, Gen Y and millennials — earning and investing simultaneously, said Haniz Nazlan, chief executive officer of consumer banking at CIMB Group Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB).

“We are seeing a great rewiring of wealth,” he said. “Multiple generations are actively involved in the rapid evolution of wealth creation, protection and intergenerational transfer, all happening at the same time.”

To tap into the region’s affluent population expected to grow 5%-6% annually, CIMB has announced the launch of CIMB Private Wealth offering bespoke services and privileges for clients across Asean.

Haniz said CIMB Private Wealth addresses the market gap by functioning as a complete advisory platform tailored for individuals with an asset under management of RM1 million or more.

He is touting the bank’s regional connectivity with over 600 branches and 1,500 relationship managers to offer localised knowledge and context for their clients across Asean, rather than managing client wealth remotely.

Private Wealth clients also benefit from personalised advisory through dedicated senior relationship managers and certified investment advisors, supported by CIMB’s Chief Investment Office-guided portfolio reviews, asset allocation strategies and market insights.

Further, clients also get a suite of premium privileges across CIMB’s Asean footprint as well as the benefits of the CIMB Private Wealth World Elite Card.
