Cambodian exports to India surge 57% in two months

20 tháng 03. 2026

Cambodia’s trade with India recorded strong growth in early 2026, reflecting deepening economic ties between the two countries. According to data released by the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), Cambodian exports to India surged by 57.2 percent in the first two months of the year, reaching $29.54 million.

Overall bilateral trade between Cambodia and India climbed to $83 million during the January–February period, marking a 27.6 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year. Imports from India also saw steady growth, rising by 15.6 percent to $54 million.

The sharp rise in exports highlights Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to diversify its export markets beyond traditional partners such as the United States and the European Union. Key Cambodian exports to India include agricultural commodities, garments, and processed goods, while India exports pharmaceuticals, machinery, and raw materials to Cambodia.

Analysts say the upward trend reflects improving trade facilitation, stronger diplomatic relations, and the gradual recovery of global demand following recent economic uncertainties. The two nations have also been exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, digital technology, and manufacturing.

Despite the positive momentum, experts note that bilateral trade remains modest relative to its full potential. Both governments have signalled interest in further strengthening trade frameworks and reducing barriers to unlock greater exchange.
With sustained policy support and private sector engagement, Cambodia–India trade is expected to continue its upward trajectory in the coming months, reinforcing a growing partnership in Asia.
