A delegation of Austrian companies visiting Cambodia has evinced keen interest in the investment opportunities in the country, highlighting growing European interest in the Kingdom’s economic potential.
The delegation also attended the Cambodia-Austria Business Forum in Phnom Penh on Monday. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the event brought together a delegation of 19 Austrian firms, marking the largest corporate trade mission from Austria to Cambodia to date.
The delegation was led by Andreas Sumper, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Phnom Penh. Representatives from key Cambodian ministries and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) also participated, reflecting strong public-private engagement.
According to the CDC, the forum aimed to provide Austrian investors with detailed insights into Cambodia’s investment climate while facilitating direct dialogue with government institutions. Discussions focused on building partnerships across priority sectors and expanding bilateral trade ties.
In his remarks, Sun Chanthol emphasised Cambodia’s attractiveness as an investment destination in Southeast Asia, citing favourable investment laws, macroeconomic stability, a young workforce, and ongoing infrastructure development. He also noted the government’s efforts to combat online scams as part of broader reforms to enhance the business environment.
Officials said continued cooperation with the Austrian Embassy is expected to strengthen Austrian business presence in Cambodia, supporting industrial development and contributing to sustainable long-term economic growth.
