Belarus is interested in expanding the supply of dairy products to Indonesia – as stated by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Smilgin at a meeting with a delegation from the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services of Indonesia’s Agriculture Ministry, sb.by reports with reference to the Telegram channel of Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry
The visit is taking place as part of an official inspection aimed at assessing the compliance of Belarusian dairy processing enterprises with the requirements of Indonesian legislation in the field of standards and food safety. As reported by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, inspections of the kind are an integral part of international trade practice, “Before allowing imports of animal products, importing countries are required to ensure the reliability of the veterinary and sanitary control system of the exporting party. The inspection includes checking the entire chain from farms to finished products: animal husbandry conditions, laboratory monitoring, compliance with technological regulations, workflow, and certification mechanisms. Official exports are declared possible only if inspectors draw a positive conclusion.”
During the meeting, key aspects of Belarus’ dairy safety system were discussed: the organisational structure of the veterinary service and state control bodies, the regulatory framework in the field of veterinary and food safety, the laboratory monitoring system for animal products, programmes for the prevention and control of animal diseases, and the procedure for issuing export certificates.
In the coming days, Indonesian specialists will visit thirteen Belarusian dairy processing plants and raw material areas.
"We are sincerely interested in developing a partnership with our friends from Indonesia. We already have four enterprises accredited for the supply of dairy products, but we want their number to increase. That is why we have invited your country's leading experts to conduct an independent, comprehensive inspection. The route has been carefully thought out, so you will see the full production cycle. As regards quality, we have no worries. Belarus exports dairy products to more than 100 countries around the world, and this is the best evidence that our control system is reliable, transparent and meets the strictest international standards," Mr. Smilgin stated.
