The Cassava Federation of Cambodia and the Viet Nam Cassava Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to enhance collaboration in cassava production, processing, and trade between the two nations.
The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Commerce, was chaired by Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce. The event was attended by senior officials from the ministry, representatives from the Embassy of Viet Nam in Cambodia, members of both cassava associations, representatives from ARDB Bank, SME Bank, cassava purchasing companies from Cambodia and Viet Nam, as well as development partners.
According to the MoU, the cooperation aims to improve production quality, promote cassava processing industries, and facilitate cross-border trade. The initiative is expected to help export around nine million tonnes of fresh cassava from Cambodia to Viet Nam each year.
On this occasion, four cassava purchasing companies from Cambodia and Viet Nam also signed commercial agreements to buy roughly three million tonnes of fresh cassava annually from Cambodian farmers.
