Malaysia To Deepen Global Trade Ties

15 tháng 09. 2025

Malaysia is stepping up its multilateral engagement by opening new markets through expanded trade and investment partnerships, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in a recent interview with China’s CGTN.

Anwar noted that Malaysia’s initial involvement with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), following an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, has delivered positive results and could serve as a model for wider regional collaboration.

“I encourage my colleagues in ASEAN to open up trade and investment relations and broaden the market base,” he said, pointing to frameworks such as ASEAN+, SCO and BRICS as vital mechanisms for growth.

The prime minister also highlighted the October ASEAN Summit, where leaders from Brazil, South Africa, Italy and Canada are expected to join, calling their participation “a remarkable step for the region”.
