Singapore, Indonesia ink MoUs on energy, carbon, and green industry

16 tháng 06. 2025

The MoUs aim to enable clean energy transition amongst others.

Singapore and Indonesia signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Cross-Border Electricity Trade (CBET), Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and Sustainable Industrial Zone (SIZ).

The MoUs aim to enable clean energy transition, facilitate industrial decarbonisation, and generate sustainability investments.

The CBET MoU will have both MTI and ESDM facilitate the necessary arrangements for CBET within 12 months of the signing of the MoU.

Moreover, under the CCS MoU, a joint Working Group will be set up to study components of a legally binding G2G agreement on CCS.

For the SIZ MoU, a joint task force will be formed by Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to explore industry development in Bintan, Batam, and Karimun (BBK).

The MoUs were signed by Singapore’s Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology, Tan See Leng, and Indonesia’s Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
