Conference: US Reciprocal Tariff & Vietnamese Businesses' Responses

25 tháng 04. 2025

On April 2, 2025, President Trump signed an Executive Order imposing reciprocal tariffs on goods imported into the US from all countries and customs territories. Under this Order, Vietnam is among the group of countries subject to the highest specific reciprocal tariff rate (up to 46%).

The Vietnamese government immediately took proactive, active, and innovative measures to respond to this US tariff policy. Concurrently, on April 9, 2025, the US also announced a 90-day temporary suspension of these specific rates for most partners to pave the way for bilateral negotiations.

Nevertheless, the threat of reciprocal tariffs in the US market remains complex and unpredictable, leading to significant risks and challenges for exports and imports specifically, and for the business operations of Vietnamese companies in general.

To properly understand reciprocal tariffs within US tariff policy, evaluate the impacts and effects on export sectors and the economy, and discuss recommendations of Vietnamese businesses for responding to this situation, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) organized:
