26 tháng 03. 2025

Switzerland is seeking strong economic and trade ties with Cambodia.

This was revealed by Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation on Tuesday as she received Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, in her office in Berne, Switzerland.

The Commerce Minister is on an official visit to Switzerland to discuss trade ties and boost exports.

Both Nimul and Artieda discussed different areas of economic cooperation under the umbrella of various multilateral frameworks.

In 2023, Cambodia exported $341 million to Switzerland, with knit sweaters, non-knit men’s suits, and knit women’s suits being the main products.

Switzerland’s leading exports to Cambodia are pharmaceuticals and machinery, while its main imports are precious stones, textiles, shoes, and agricultural products.

Both countries have pledged to further strengthen trade relations and are looking into establishing a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA).

The Swiss embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, represents Swiss diplomatic interests in Cambodia. The Cambodian ambassador to Switzerland resides in Geneva, and there is also a Cambodian consulate in Zurich.

Switzerland and Cambodia have had diplomatic relations since 1963. The two countries have engaged in regular political and economic dialogue since 2016.
