Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, said that Cambodia is ready to support Japanese investors who want to invest in Cambodia and expand labor cooperation between Cambodia and Japan.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting with the delegation from Asakuchi, Okayama province, Japan, led by Yasuhiko Kuriyama and accompanied by Japan-Cambodia Association President Fumiaki Takahashi and members of the association.
During the meeting on April 1, 2024, Minister stated that, “within the framework of Social Security and Vocational Training, Cambodia is ready to support the Japanese side who wish to invest in Cambodia to create more job opportunities for local people.”
In addition, the Minister also welcomed the intention to expand cooperation in the field of labor, as Cambodia already has experience on this cooperation.
At this point, the Japanese side was interested in what Heng Sour’s remarks and also highlighted the scope and potential of Asakuchi’s famous products for the production of wine and noodles that produce by handicrafts and fisheries (oysters) and processing of products used in restaurants.
For the Japanese side, their company can transfer technology or standard of production to enable Cambodians with high skills and capacity to produce products with Japanese standard quality.
In fruitful discussions between the two sides, the Minister has high expectations that Japanese investors will come to invest in Cambodia with human resources, skills and raw materials to be able to process and support Japanese investment in Cambodia in the future to run smoothly.
As an alumnus who has studied in Japan, Labour Minister really wants to see more Japanese investors come to invest in Cambodia to create more job opportunities for Cambodians while both countries have increased the level of strategic partnership relations in all aspects.
