Cambodia lowers tariffs on natural stone exports to compete in international markets

The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Dr. Hun Manet, emphasised on his telegram channel that the signing of the sub-decree allows the reduction of export tax rates on some natural stone products for export, with the aim of easing the burden on natural stone exporters and facilitating the competition of Cambodian natural stone products in the international market.

At the same time, the premier commemorated when he and his delegation inspected the exhibition booth of Cambodian products in Nanning, China, on the occasion of the 20th ASEAN-China Expo on September 17; he met with a representative of a natural stone business in Cambodia, at which time the company representative requested the Royal Government of Cambodia consider the possibility of providing additional assistance to the natural stone business in Cambodia.

The Prime Minister continued that in response to that request, as well as similar requests from others in Cambodia, which he received, he assigned the task to Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth to facilitate meetings between relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, with the Cambodian Granite Association and the quarrying companies to hear concerns and suggestions and to propose appropriate and timely solutions in order to promote the exploitation of natural stone and the export of natural stone.

The premier further stated that as a result of the meeting, a proposal was made to request the decision of the Royal Government, which today signed a sub-decree to reduce the export rate on some export goods in order to alleviate the burden on natural stone exporters and help the competition of Cambodian natural stone products in the international market.
